MOLFETTA AND ITS SURROUNDING AREAS. In addition to offering a wide range of itineraries, Molfetta is located in a strategic position from which other cities of the provinces of Bari and Bat can be reached and visited. All the destinations you can include in your trip are just a few kilometers away. In the hinterland, you can visit “Castel Del Monte” [The Castle of the Mount], the castle from the Frederick era - a UNESCO heritage site - and the ancient Romanesque cathedral of Ruvo of Puglia. During the Middle Ages, a great number of buildings renown worldwide for their beauty were implemented in Puglia; such as the cathedral of Trani, on the sea and isolated in its main square or the Basilica of St. Nicolas in Bari, a place for Orthodox pilgrims and Catholics , or the Bitonto Cathedral, built according to the model from Bari. The historical center of Giovinazzo is worth the visit and so is a walk to Bisceglie and its long seaside. If you wish to visit the castles of the Frederick era, that are found on the land of this region, then even Barletta is amongst the cities to visit. If you love nature, the National Park of the Alta Murgia is a few kilometers from Molfetta.
