THE PERMANENT ETHNOGRAPHIC EXHIBITION OF THE SEA has been hosted, since 2005, inside the ice house of the Fabbrica di San Domenico (Factory of San Domenico). The project was made possible thanks to the donation of designs and tools - used throughout his life in the daily practice of shipwrighting - from the Vincenzo Estere Uva family. The Archeoclub started here to trace all stages of the shipbuilding activities, which - along with fishing - have marked the history of Molfetta and its people throughout the centuries. The collection of mosaic materials was never interrupted and, since 2005 to date, many “seamen” have continued to donate materials to increase the collection. The itinerary of the exhibition goes from the traditional shipbuilding activities to the secondary ones, such as the fishing net industry, the production of cordage, work tools, models and designs from the early twentieth century.
